It was all worth the blood, sweat, tears, and scars. I will willingly do this again.

Meet Team Baby Chicks. Team of the Supers.

Saturday, October 6th, 2012, my boyfriend, his sister, her boyfriend, and I all drove up to Sacramento for a 5k mud obstacle course race, Mud Factor. A little more than 3 miles, you run and get over walls, trudge through mud pits, run over hills, and climb things all, or mostly muddy the whole time (the whole course isn't mud by the way)  until you finish with a girl putting a medal around your mud crusted neck.

To my surprise, it wasn't that bad, actually one of the most fun, dirty, things I've done in my life! It's a little scary at first, runnning for a while because you don't see the first two obstacle for a while, but after the first mile, the obstacles almost seem to blend together. You also forget it's three miles while you're running, listening to everyone laugh and scream, "I got a whole mud pie in my shoe!", and to my amazement, we pretty much ran, more like lightly jogged, the whole time. We did it in an hour! CRAZY!

The best part? It's not a race, walk jog, sprint, you're there to help each other and just have a good time, whether you're on the same team or not. You make good friends with random people for brief moments at obstacles, and cheer each other on. You all might look the different with your crazy superhero costumes, plain work out clothes, or "Wash My Beaver" tank top and shorts, but in the end, we all end up the same color. A nice, wet, later crusty brown.
Did I mention this race gives you a free bandana and a free beer? LOL.

If you don't mind getting a little down and dirty,
I recommend that everyone should try it at least once.
It's a lot more fun that you think it would be work.
In a way, it's kind of addicting.

Warrior Dash, Mud Factor, or Dirty Girl(Sorry boys, this one is girls only) are the "tame" ones I can think of right now. There's a whole bunch out there like Muddy Buddy and Tough Mudder, but it's best to do your research first.

I'll have more pictures uploaded once the Mud Factor website posts the action shots in a couple of days. In the meantime, it's time to sign up for the next one. AWESOME 80's RUN!
